L. G. Herndon Jr. Farms, Inc. is a family owned and operated business. We have been in business for over 20 years as growers of Vidalia Sweet Onions, supersweet corn, green leafy vegetables, hogs and cows. We make every effort to produce only the finest sweet Vidalia Onions and other vegetables. We take great pride in what we do. Herndon Farms originated in 1979, under the inspiration of L. G. "Bo" Herndon Jr. He began his farming career with only one small tractor, a small piece of land, and a few hogs. His wife, Gill, worked outside of the home for 14 years to take care of the household expenses so the farm income could be generated back into the farm. Over the course of 20 years our farming operation has grown. We now produce 500 acres of Vidalia Sweet Onions, 550 acres of sweet corn (white, yellow, and bi-color), and 520 acres of leafy green vegetables (collards, mustard, turnips and kale). As a family business, Bo's nephew, Jason, helps manage the farm, his wife, Gill, helps in the office along the side of Carolyn Wilkes, and Dana Wood. Bo's three daughters, Maghen, Jordie, and Sky help out during the summer months. We strive to maintain a good reputation for high-quality products. We are members of the Vidalia-Montgomery Chamber of Commerce and the Toombs-Montgomery-Vidalia Onion Growers Association. |
